Two Major Hurricanes in Two Months

Are we ever going to take major action on Climate Change?

With Hurricane Helene causing unheard of damage thousands of miles away in North Carolina, and Hurricane Milton about to slam into Florida’s Gulf Coast with 185 mile per hour winds, are people still choosing to ignore the link between global warming and powerful, more frequent hurricanes?

These hurricanes kill people, destroy property, and cause terrible trauma. For many people, their lives will never be the same after such a storm. And yet, we see both aware of the consequences of global warming on these storms, but unconcerned until something happens. 

What are the barriers to creating change around greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. Have we gone directly from ‘Global Warming is fake’ to ‘there’s just nothing we can do about it now.’ I hope not.

I hope we can soon enter the phase or the era of ‘we can and we need to do something about this.’
